About the Project
Profiles in Legalization began as an essay series examining the motivations and accomplishments of significant cannabis advocates. It grew to include original, contributed and reprinted cannabis policy and industry news articles and releases.
The long profile essays will begin publishing in 2022.
PiL: Cannabis Legalization News (@ProfilesInLegal) is a news feed curated by the author. Four stories are chosen and promoted through social media each weekday to highlight cannabis policy developments throughout the United States.
PiL: Cannabis Industry News is updated daily with press releases concerning the cannabis industry from newswire services.
All original content, unless otherwise noted, is written by P. Aiden Hunt.
Original articles, pages and posts are published under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
To tell stories about the motivations and accomplishments of significant figures in the U.S. cannabis legalization movement, in a way that connects with and inspires readers.
The project has expanded to include cannabis policy and industry news. This news comes original reporting and articles reprinted with permission. The author signed a licensing agreement with ACI Information Group in July, 2021, for the site’s distribution through Newstex Blogs as original authoritative content.
Profiles In Legalization is listed as a digital trade/business-to-business media outlet by Muck Rack. It is not intended as a breaking news site, but rather as recap and analysis on state and federal cannabis developments.
The author’s vision is to explore the use of creative nonfiction writing to inspire activism and practice journalism.
To ensure quality and accuracy, the literary project is no longer on a timeline. Longform profiles will be published as they are completed. Publishing will begin in 2022 with a Prologue essay about the author.
The profiles will be compiled into an eBook collection after the project ends.
For the author, this is primarily a literary project. Telling true stories in a creative and engaging way is the sole value, in that sense.
It is hoped, however, that reading about committed advocates will inspire readers to get involved, in whatever way they can.
The author supports all cannabis legalization efforts, even when imperfectly conceived or implemented.
This is a not-for-profit project. The only promotions are for related not-for-profit organizations and cannabis publication sponsors.
Neither the author, nor the project, will accept money for coverage. All subjects are chosen exclusively by the author based on merit and likely ability to tell their story creatively.
